Private Protectors #4
Relentless Pursuit by Adrienne Giordano
I read Adrienne Giordano’s novella Negotiating Point and was supposed to go back to read the first books in the Private Protector series - I ended up going forward instead but, heck, who cares? Relentless Pursuit was a funny, charming read. Initially (I’m talking blurb initially), I thought Billy was going to be some serious security agent acting like a bear with a thorn in its butt because he made a mistake. Ha! Billy was one of the funniest, if not the funniest, heroes I’ve ever read. He had me chuckling and snorting enough for it to be embarrassing – and he was hawt. I loved Kristen – she was super cute and matched perfectly with Billy’s wackiness.
Watching the Kristen and Billy’s relationship was amusing and oh-so ‘aww’ worthy. It was one of those few genuinely double-sided relationships; she taught him how to be more stable and appropriate and he made her see how beautiful she was. The car theft subplot was well-written, too – I didn’t feel as if it took over the story too much, but it still had enough presence to influence some of the action in the foreground. I didn’t like, though, that it was so accelerated at the end; that was just a bit too convenient. Overall, Relentless Pursuit was a delightful book – with all its ups and few downs. Loved every minute of it. |
You call this a mission?
Yeah, ex-Army Ranger and Taylor Securities operative Billy Tripp screwed up. So instead of being assigned to a dangerous international mission, he’s sent to babysit a pricey necklace at a trendy South Beach hotel. The only bright side to the assignment is working with the manager, smoking-hot hotel heiress Kristen Dante.
Kristen’s worked hard to build her father’s Miami hotel into a jet-set destination. She’s confident in business but not so much with men. What could a sexy guy like Billy want with her when he could have someone like her beautiful, party-girl sister?
There’s a reason Billy’s known as Mr. Relentless. He doesn’t give up. Not on a job, or on the woman he wants. So when three luxury cars go missing from the hotel’s lot, Billy sets out to find the thief. Suddenly, he has a case with the risks he thrives on. But when his investigation leads to Kristen being threatened, the real danger is losing his heart.
